Behind the Scenes of The Hunger Games in Asheville, NC

Recently I discovered that The Hunger Games was filmed in the beautiful state of North Carolina.  Several of the cities and surrounding areas served as The Capital, District 12 and the Arena.

One of the cities they filmed in is Asheville, NC. My best friend's sister lives in Asheville and I went to visit last year. I have to say it is a gorgeous city and the surrounding parks are even more beautiful so I am not surprised the producers chose this area for a backdrop in the movie.

Specifically Asheville's scenery served as the Arena where a majority of the movie will take place as Katniss, Peeta and the other tributes fight to survive. Filming locations include DuPont State Park, Triple Falls, Little River and Bridal Veil Falls. The stars also stayed in Asheville while filming. How cool!!

My friend's sister also works for the Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau which is how I found out about the movie being filmed there. I subscribe to their emails and one of the emails included information about The Hunger Games. Yay! :)
